The finder listens to the whole file: it measures how much of each note is present to find the key, and where the beats fall to find the tempo. It is quick for demos and voice memos with chords, and it is an estimate: trust your ear when a song sits between two keys.

Upload the file and the finder compares the notes in it with the notes of all 24 major and minor keys, giving more weight to the chords and the bass. By ear, hum the note that feels like the end of the song: that is usually the tonic.
Relative keys share every note (C major and A minor have no sharps or flats). Which one is the key depends on where the song feels at rest; the chords and scale you use are the same.
On songs with a clear beat it is usually within one BPM. It can report half or double the tempo you feel, so both are shown. Songs with a free tempo or no drums are harder.
No. It works with audio files you have, such as your own demos and exports. Streaming services do not allow downloading their audio.
