Found a shape you like on the guitar or a set of keys on the piano? Mark it and the finder tells you the chord name, the notes and other names it goes by.
Songwriters stumble on good chords by accident all the time. The finder names them, including inversions such as C/E and shapes with a missing fifth, so you can write them on the lyric sheet and find them again.

Mark every note you play (on the piano) or the fret of each string (on the guitar). The finder compares those notes with major, minor, seventh, suspended, added-note, diminished and augmented chords and shows the best names.
It is a C chord with E as its lowest note, called an inversion or a slash chord. The part after the slash is the bass note.
Some chords share exactly the same notes. Which name fits depends on the bass note and the song around it; the finder shows both.
The guitar mode uses standard tuning (E A D G B E). For other tunings, mark the notes on the piano instead.
