Singers use it to check their pitch and songwriters to write down a melody before it fades. The note appears as you sing; every note you hold for a moment is added to a list you can copy into a chord sheet, a lyric or a message to your band.

Press Start, allow the microphone and hold the note. The tool shows its name (for example A3), how many cents sharp or flat you are and the frequency in hertz.
With a clear, held note in a quiet room it is usually within a few cents. Strong vibrato, breathy tones, background noise or several instruments at once make the reading less stable.
It lists the notes you hold, in order, so you get the pitches of the melody. It does not write rhythm: sing slowly and add the rhythm yourself, or record a take next to the list.
They are octaves in scientific pitch notation: C4 is middle C and A4 is the 440 Hz A. Most voices sing roughly between C3 and C6.
